Revlon Colorstay Concealer Review, Swatches and Demo

By Contributor: Agnirupa

Its still chilly and dry here in Kolkata and much as I love my MAC studio finish concealer for the best and opaque coverage it does tend to get a tad difficult to warm up between fingers and blend during these few months and while I avoid liquid concealers all the year round like a contagious disease thanks to my greasy face, I seem to be gravitating towards them this winter. What else could explain my trying out the teeny lakme concealer for 900 INR. So when I saw Revlon launch a bigger version in India at a lesser price I had to bring it home! The S.A recommended the shade light-medium which I will review and swatch today.

Revlon Claims: Our latest ColorStay concealer with new time release technology balances imperfections for a continuously flawless look, for up to 24 hours.

– Covers imperfections
– Conceals blemishes and dark circles
– Full yet undetectable coverage

Available in 2 shades only– light-medium and medium-deep. *drat!*

Revlon tries to keep it smarter than Lakme by trying to keep both sides of the game. How else could you explain the shade light-medium? And cummon only 2 shades! *eye roll* this shade is for very light to light complexions and sadly just like Lakme has a yellow undertone which fails to do much for me. Even if it does conceal better it gives me yellow spots grrrr…

The coverage is medium-buildable (yes I am talking in Revlon lingo lol) but ya its just about ok but can be built up to a decent coverage. The shade is too pale for under eyes of course (guess the other shade still might work) but it does conceal a few zits or blemishes on my face.

The texture is medium thick, creamy but not at all greasy (of course I might not have felt it cause the weather itself is sucking moisture) and is quite easy to apply and blend and requires a tiny amount for each application. Staying power is not an issue at all and in this weather it lasts the whole day till removed and does not oxidize.

The Revlon colorstay concealer comes in a regular concealer packaging with a very nice spongy applicator which is easy to carry around and apply but also means a bit unhygienic so its better to smear them on your hand and dab with fingers.

The pros of Revlon ColorStay Concealer:

  • Sleek tube like packaging with a very nice soft spongy applicator
  • Texture is smooth, creamy and easily blendable.
  • Coverage is decent enough and can be built up to an extent
  •  Staying power is great and does not budge till removed.
  • A tiny amount is required making it economical for its price.

The cons of Revlon ColorStay Concealer:

  • Narrow and foolish shade range with yellow undertone only. What are the people with pink undertones supposed to do Revlon?

Price: Rs.725 (quite reasonable compared to lakme’s crazy stupid pricing)

VNA Rating: 3.5/5

Do I recommend? Revlon ColorStay Concealer 03 Light Medium is economically, texturally great actually, blends really well too and has a good enough coverage but their shade range fails miserably for me as I am a NW 25-30 in MAC and of course have a pink undertone and this yellow concealer gives me jaundice spots on skin :x but does not work for me is no reason why you should not try ! its one of the good ones in the drugstore range! As for me MAC is still my go-to concealer and Clinique rapidly becoming a favorite.

Till my next post do miss me everyone and keep loving my reviews. Loads of love for you all. Muuahhs!

  11. Nicely reviewed! But for daily wear, I find it a bit costly! Right now I’m using this one called The One Illuskin Concealer from latest launched range of Oriflame and I’m simply loving it! I use it to work and I love to wear it daily. I’ve not faced any cakeyness or creasing issues with it. It lasts for around 6-8 hours on me without using a powder on top.
