MAC Petal Power Mineralize Blush: Review and Swatches

Review, Swatches and Price of MAC Mineralize Blush Petal Power

By Contributor: Monica

As promised, am back again with a high end product review and swatch that was part of the haul me and my sister had for our brother’s wedding. This Petal Power blush from the MAC Mineralize range was purchased by my sister who is still a novice in buying makeup and goes just by the swatches without actually trying the product. Yeah, you guys guessed it right, though this blush looks beautiful in pictures and swatches but is a complete waste of money for me (face palm).

MAC Claims: Baked minerals refined into a powder blush formula to provide exceptionally sheer and lightweight application. Colour builds lightly, layer after layer, without heavy coverage. Veils and enhances the cheekbones with a luminous, pearlized shimmer.

My Review:

Packaging: the packaging is normal MAC type quite sturdy though. This baby can easily survive few falls. All in all simple no fuss packaging, nothing particular to talk about.

Shade: this is the worst part of this blush, no seriously it is! MAC describes this as coral with gold shimmer but as per me this is only gold shimmer with slight pink tones. On seeing the pan I thought this to be a dupe of NARS Orgasm but man! I am so very disappointed with this. This is not pink enough to be worn on entire cheek and this is bit too much and heavy for highlighting also. Is been more than 2 months I have this and I am still figuring out how to utilize the hard earned money spent on this.

Pigmentation: One swipe gives you just gold shimmer, two swipes- more gold shimmer and bit of pink colour, three swipes- more and more gold shimmer, heavy feeling on cheeks but still only hint of pink with pores emphasized. (I feel like crying man!)

Texture: ok finally there is something good herein. The blush feels super soft on the skin and is completely easy to work with and blend. No fall out at all. The best texture I have ever come across.

Staying Power: just for the review purpose i put it on this weekend at 3 in the afternoon and it was still there at 10 in the night when I removed it. So yes, its stays for pretty good amount of time.

Overall, I don’t know why my sis got this. I desperately want to use this and enjoy the soft texture of this blush but I can just not do that. On my NC 25 skintone also, the pink barely shows up in 1-2 swipes and if I try to build this up my pores pop up like nobody’s business.

What I like about MAC Mineralize Blush Petal Power:

  • Sturdy packaging.
  • Super amazing texture.
  • No fall outs at all.
  • Good pigmentation.
  • Good staying power

What I don’t like about MAC Mineralize Blush Petal Power:

  • Too much of gold in the shade.
  • Enhances pores.
  • Super pricey.

Price: Rs.1650

VNA Rating: 3/5

Do I recommend: I would definitely recommend mineralize blushes for their texture and staying power but not this particular shade.

P.S.: If you guys have any idea how to use this then do let me know please. I seriously don’t want to put my 1650 rupees down the drain.

  4. loved the swatch! why don’t you try it for eye make-up? I have a feeling that it might work as a lovely inner corner highlight for a romantic pink eye makeup.

  5. I like the colour but like you said, it’s too much shimmer for everyday. Using it along with a highlighter or over another blush would be best. :)

  7. The colour is pretty and I like the shade. Maybe you can try applying first over primer and then apply the foundation if it helps….

  9. Loved ur review Monica.. Try using a duo-fibre brush, it may pick less of shimmers.. And pat your foundation brush or sponge again over the blush (after the application) to lower the intensity and make it more natural..
